Question
How can I be sure my dog is safe when I entrust it to a borrower?
Answer
Once you think you have found a borrower who could suit you and your dog, we strongly recommend that you meet them at least once with your dog before entrusting it to them. This allows you to get to know the borrower, discuss rules, and establish a relationship of trust between the borrower and the dog.
Sometimes, our members decide to have several meetings in the presence of the owner, the dog and the potential borrower in order to get to know each other and establish a relationship of trust.
Selecting a borrower close to your home also allows you to take your dog to their home in your presence, to get it used to the environment. This also allows you to verify that the home is suitable for caring for your dog.
It is also highly recommended to fill out the Pupper form and give it to the borrower in order to provide them with all the necessary information to ensure a safe care for your dog.
In addition to this, the borrower is required to keep your dog on a leash during their outings, unless you give them permission to take it out without a leash through the Leash Permission Form.
